HP DreamColor Z31x Studio and Z24x G2 Display Specs & Features Update: Designed For Color Critical Market

Recently, HP has launched a pair of new DreamColor display. Engineered and designed for the color critical market consisting of photographers, artists, and filmmakers the new displays promise to set a gold standard for color accuracy. The new pair was destined for the extremes of HP's DreamColor range; the HP DreamColor Z31x Studio wears a $3999 price tag while the HP DreamColor Z24x G2 at $559.

According to CNET, the HP DreamColor Z31x Studio is a 31-inch monitor with a 10-bit IPS panel providing more than 1 billion colors including consistent on-and-off-axis black levels. HP Company claims that it has improved upon the underlying IPS tech to reproduce incredibly deep blacks, rich shadow detail, and minimal black lift.

HP DreamColor Z31x Studio was built with a colorimeter, which can automatically calibrate the displays on demand or on regular calibration schedule. Additionally, it can be aligned with an in-house reference instrument for consistent, accurate colors facility-wide. The HP DreamColor Z31x Studio has a built-in keyboard/video/mouse (KVM) switch, a handy feature for those who use two computers and want to keep clutter to a minimum. HP describes this new monitor as a true Cinema 4KI display and offers True 2K viewing. The availability of this device was scheduled for later this year, priced at $3999.

As noted by Digital Trends, HP Z24x G2 DreamColor Display is a 24-inch set to become the most affordable DreamColor monitor yet. This device delivers the color accuracy and consistency that has become synonymous with the HP DreamColor brand at $559. The equipped panel offers 1 billion colors and a gamut covering 99 percent of Adobe RGB. Push-button color space selection is standard.

HP claims that the HP Z24x G2 DreamColor Display is compatible with both the X-Rite i1 Display Pro and the Klein Instrument K10-A colorimeters via the supplied Windows/Mac calibration software. For those interested consumers, the HP Z24x G2 DreamColor Display will be available early this year's July.
