Android’s Co-Founder Andy Rubin Teases a New ‘Bezel-less’ Smartphone

Mar 28, 2017 02:15 PM EDT

Former Vice President for Mobile, Andy Rubin has teased a new bezel-less smartphone on his twitter feed, which has caused a huge storm among the smartphone enthusiasts worldwide. Andy Rubin recently quit Google in order to open his own venture with Essential, which is expected to come out with their first smartphone that is rumored to run on Google's Android OS. The leaked render at least alleges that the phone will indeed be running an Android operating system.

Rubin was in charge of Google's mobile development until late 2013 when he quit for the aforementioned reasons and has now come out with a bang. An initial report from GSMArena showcases the image render that also looks small compared to other phones likely indicating its form factor. The image shared by Andy certainly managed to live up to the hype he expected, however, the claims of 'bezel-less' smartphone at least from the available angle, doesn't seem to look like it.

The report also believes that the phone from Essential products will be modular but that said, people will certainly have to wait longer to find out more about the device. It seems like the smartphone will also be equipped with smart connectors, that is already existent of the iPad Pro variants from Apple. It's expected to have a metal frame and ceramic back.

Meanwhile, on the other hand, details from Tech Crunch mentioned that the company primarily intends to focus on the engineering department as well as securing financial funding in order to bring out high-end premium devices for users. It's likely speculated that the phone revealed by Andy Rubin will be a flagship. For a caliber of a flagship device, there's no doubt the phone will have a rugged built for a comfortable holding experience.

Apart from the tweet by Andy himself, there are no other details about their upcoming phone as of now. It's only a matter of time until Andy Rubin himself tweets another picture possibly from a different angle revealing more details about the new phone.
