'Call Of Duty: World War II' 2017 Game: Activision May Bring Back Traditional Combat For Fans in 2017

The latest leaked photos of new "Call of Duty" game apparently suggest that the setting for the upcoming installment may be based on the second world war. The "Call of Duty: World War II," which is not the first of its kind to feature the historical world wars, may continue the conflict left behind in the first three COD games.

The mysterious updates related to the "Call of Duty: World War II" game started spreading through several subreddits such as CallOfDuty, WWII, and CoDCompetitive, which all offered a backlink to an Imgur website page. Readers can see that the images featured there are all featuring a game titled as "Call of Duty: WWII."

The Imgur website page further notes of a link to a YouTube video, which has been posted on a channel called TheFamilyVideoGamers, reported Mashable. The video talks about a number of images through an email shared by someone. A number of these images offer impressive artwork, which apparently makes it seem legit that "Call of Duty: World War II" is going to happen.

The idea of a historical war setting once again is further backed by a statement from an investor at Activision in Feb 2017. The investor noted that "Call of Duty: Infinite Warfare," which came out in 2016, underperformed as the fans were not impressed by its futuristic setting that much. The addition of "Call of Duty: World War II" as the game for 2017 was further supported by Activision COO, Thomas Tippl, who stated that this year's game will be centralized on "traditional combat." He further quoted that COD will be taken "back to its roots."

Tippl's statement was also double-checked by Activision CEO, Eric Hishberg, who said that COD Infinite Warfare did not appeal to all the fans of the first-person shooter series. So, there are chances for the "Call of Duty: World War II" to be an actual game this year.
