Nintendo Switch To Have Supply Problems For The Rest of The Year, GameStop Reports

An executive of a known game chain retailer has revealed that customers may experience a supply shortage of the Nintendo Switch for the rest of the year. This is despite the gaming console sold over 1.5 million units in its first week.

GameStop COO Tony Bartel has said that due to the persistent demand for the Nintendo Switch, the chain retail would have a hard time reproducing and restocking the gaming console. He claims that for every time they will restock with the famous gaming console, it would be gone for hours already.

In an article by Alex Osborn for IGN, fans thought that the hype for the Nintendo Switch would die eventually after its March 3 global release. However, the restock on the hybrid console would need to be more consistent in order to meet up with the demand.

Bartel said that GameStop would be "chasing supply this entire year" for the Nintendo Switch. It is also feared that the supply shortage would be extended through the shopping season of holiday, according to an article by Forbes.

Bartel attributed the high sales of Nintendo Switch because of games like "The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild". This is widely considered by everyone as the newly released gaming console as the flagship game.

He also said that there is an almost one-to-one attach rate between the Nintendo Switch and The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild. Even if this could be a good case, it is deemed that the other launch games for the Nintendo Switch are weak.

Other games that are expected to be released in the Nintendo Switch are some sequels to nostalgic games like the "Mario Kart 8 Deluxe" and the "Splatoon 2". The former will be released next month while the latter will be released this summer.

The Nintendo Switch has sold 1.5 million units over its first week. Different game retailers have reported that they have sold out on stocks of the gaming console.

The company behind the Nintendo Switch has promised to double its production. They are targeting 16 million units this April.
