Spoilers for “One Piece 859” manga focuses on the meeting of Luffy and Bege as they join forces versus Big Mom. To recall, Bege got Luffy to be part of a plan to topple Yonko and put in place new players who would play a big role in a forthcoming clash. MangaStream showed the two meet in Chapter 858 to work together in the coming wedding.
Stop The Wedding. The two were set to challenge Big Mom in Sanji and Pudding’s wedding, according to Neveto. Their plan was to stop the arranged wedding of Sanji and save Sanji’s family from Big Mom, Blasting News reports. But it was not an easy deal to reach because Luffy was still livid with rage at Bege who shot Pekoms and planned to drown Pekoms who refused to be a part of Bege’s plans against Big Mom. However, Luffy agreed on the condition that he would punch Bege once for what the latter did to Pekoms. The result was a shouting match between Bege’s group members and Straw Hat Pirates members who were at the meeting in “One Piece 859.”
But Jinbe reminded the two warring groups their anger should be directed at their common enemy, Big Mom. It led to an interim alliance in “One Piece 859” that they agreed to work together even if they hate each other. Games&Anime adds that in the previous chapter, the crew met Chiffon, daughter of Big Mom and sister of Lola. Years of suffering beatings from the Yonko just because she looks like Lola – the hated child of Big Mom - made Chiffon side with Bege.
Why Big Mom Grew. “One Piece 859” also explains the large size of Big Mom in a back story. According to Chiffon, Lola did not want to marry Loki, the prince of Elbaf, a giant race, so she escaped, making Big Mom hate Lola. Big Mom substituted Chiffon, but Loki discovered the substitution, worsening Yonko’s relationship with the Elbaf. Because the hope of having the Elbaf on her side was lost, Big Mom experimented by using artificial means to make regular people large, including herself.
