‘Pokemon GO’ Latest News & Updates: Niantic CEO John Hanke Hints At Quarterly Updates Coming Soon

Mar 03, 2017 07:41 AM EST

For most “Pokemon GO” players still feeling their way on the Gen 2 version, it would be best for more to come. Such was revealed by Niantic CEO John Hanke who hinted at quarterly updates arriving for the hit augmented reality game this year.

There is one major update coming for “Pokemon GO”, something Hanke referred to as “Ingress 2.0”, Pokemon GO Hub reported. The first thing that comes to mind are the features speculated in 2016 that were nowhere to be found when “Pokemon Go” Gen 2 rolled out. That included the Pokemon Trading and Player vs. Player feature that most were eagerly anticipating.

There is a chance that these would be the added features in the quarterly updates line up for “Pokemon GO” according to his interview with el Periodico. These and more are expected as Niantic tries to pull out all the stops in drawing back users who have gone astray. With time to spare, most are now busy trying to capture those Johto region monsters where about 80 of them are on the loose.

The latest updates to “Pokemon GO” have taken its toll on servers with players complaining about glitches. These range from game crashes to screen display hiccups, things that usually occur when game updates are made. Niantic is likely looking into these problems though game server upgrades are unlikely to be an option. With the active player base for “Pokemon GO” erratic, it may take more than occasional server hiccups to convince Hanke and the Niantic team to resort to such. One occurrence was back on Feb. 26 as reportedly be Attack of the Fanboy.

Looking ahead, Hanke’s revelation of the plans for “Pokemon GO” should be something to look forward to. Despite no timetable, it is all part of Niantic’s plan to appease augmented reality players and entice them to play “Pokemon GO” continuously and more frequently.
