Last month, the Android 7.1.1 Nougat update had been received by Nokia 6 users in China. HMD Global has announced that the software update would now be rolling out to Nokia 6 users in Taiwan and Hong Kong along with the May security patch.
The Nokia 6 is the first Nokia branded Smartphone. It was first released in China and was made available to the rest of the world in the MWC 2017 expo. HMD has decided to widen the Android 7.1.1 Nougat update rollout to Taiwan and Hong Kong. As reported by Nokia Power User, the company has announced the update and said that they are happy to be delivering their promise of monthly security updates as well as regular system updates.
The Nokia 6, released back in January, has a 5.5-inch Full HD display with 1080x1920 pixels resolution and 2.5D Gorilla Glass. The Smartphone runs on a Snapdragon 430 chipset and 3 GB of RAM. It is a dual-SIM device with a 3000 mAh battery that supports fast charging.
Nokia 6 has sported a 16 megapixel rear snapper with features like Phase Detection Autofocus and dual-tone flash along with an 8-megapixel secondary camera. The Smartphone runs on Android 7.0 Nougat out-of-the-box and its other specs include a fingerprint scanner, Dolby Atmos audio enhancement and stereo speakers.
The Android software update would let users enjoy a number of new features in their Nokia 6. According to Giz-China, the Android 7.1.1 Nougat brings with it features like gender counterparts for certain emojis as well as support for GIFs with compatible apps like Google Messenger, Google Allo, and Hangouts.
The update size is 1.8 GB and users will notice many software improvements and bug fixes. With the Android 7.1.1 Nougat update, one will also be able to launch actions within an app by a simple long press on the app's icon.
The Nokia 6 is a budget phone, priced under $400. The fact that HMD Global is widening the domain of the Android 7.1.1 Nougat update so rapidly, is a big plus point to Nokia 6 users.
