Meitu M8 Hello Kitty & Sailor Moon Phones Announced With Incredible Cameras

Meitu, the Chinese tech company has announced the Meitu M8 Hello Kitty and Sailor Moon phones. The successor of the Meitu T8 phone is claimed to be a photography robot; that takes advantage of AI and augmented reality (AR). The company behind the eponymous "beautifying" app that touches up the blemishes has launched a phone, which comes along with a Moon stick for selfies.

According to Digital Trends, the Meitu M8 sports a 5.2-inch Full HD AMOLED screen having a resolution of 1,920 pixels by 1,080 pixels. Under the hood, the phone is powered by a quad-core MediaTek Helio X20 processor paired with a Mali-T880 graphics chip and 4GB of RAM.

The Meitu M8 phone features a 64GB internal storage, 3,000mAh battery, a USB Type-C connector, and a Bluetooth 4.1. The most important feature of this phone is the camera. The device packs an impressive 21MP camera at the back, while the front face of the phone carries a Sony IMX362 12MP dual-sensor camera. The selfie camera is equipped with a phase-detection autofocusing system, optical image stabilization to improve low-light performance, and Meitu's proprietary "dual image engine," which accelerates post-processing.

According to Android Community, the company calls the Meitu M8 a 'photography robot' that takes up the advantage of AI and augmented reality (AR). The phone is capable of detecting faces and can automatically enhance them. In addition, it can even detect backgrounds and can blur them when necessary. The user can also adjust selfies based on age, gender, and facial features like skin tone and hair color. The Meitu M8 can differentiate between portrait sizes, face shapes, and subject light exposure.

It is reported that the Meitu M8 phone comes in four-color options; the "Fresh and Hip" series (white and pink) and the "Chic and Classy" (red and purple). In addition, there is a special limited-edition "Hello Kitty and Sailor Moon" versions. It is reported that the first 20,000 buyers will get exclusive exterior designs, gift boxes, special UIs, collection certificates, and a bright-pink, gold-accented selfie stick.
