Casio announced its new Pro Trek WSD-F20 Android Wear at the CES, 2017, held about three months ago. The company has now officially launched the smartwatch for purchase.
Reports about the WSD-F20 say that Casio aimed this wearable more at users highly engaged in outdoor activities. The features incorporated in the smart watch would do less justice to users who want to use it in the gym.
The Casio WSD-F20 boasts of Google's latest smartwatch OS, Android 2.0. The device has an outdoorsy look and rugged feel to it, housing features that would appeal the most to hikers. It has a low-power GPS sensor which can also be accessed offline as well, a feature desirable for hiking or running activities. Before heading out to locations with weak network coverage, WSD-F20 users can download maps of the location via Mapbox.
Another exciting specification of the Pro Trek WSD-F20 is the Location Memory feature. This feature instantly reads the user's location and marks it on the map along the path taken by the user, for later reference and access. According to Slash Gear, the user too can mark spots along his path on the offline map according to his need. He can even add notes to these locations using speech. If the user revisits one of these marked locations, the smart watch would notify him.
The Pro Trek WSD-F20 even lets its user-set alerts for locations and times like sunrise, sunset, best time and venue for fishing, time for a break, an appropriate location for clicking scenic photos and so on. Geeky Gadgets says that the smartwatch is waterproof in depths till 50 meters and has an MIL-STD-801G rating. It offers 2 days of continuous service before one has to charge it again.
The Casio Pro Trek WSD-F20 Android Wear is available on Casio's website. The smart watch is available is two colors- black and orange. The design is impressive, sturdy and gives a sporty feel.
Priced at $500, the Casio Pro Trek WSD-F20 is definitely one of the most expensive smartwatches in the market. Hopefully, the promising features would live up to the expectations of users and make it worth their money.
