Most Apple loyalist are eager to see the iPhone 8 and the best way to make sure that they don’t end up empty-handed is to pre-order. They could gamble and place their order once it launches in September but they do face big odds.
As most know by now, the key component that has been seen as a possible reason for iPhone 8 supply shortage is the OLED display. Only one iPhone 8 is expected to come out with the two others being the TFT-LCD backed iPhone 7s and 7s Plus. This breaks the tradition of the Cupertino company when it comes to rolling out uniform units in an iPhone series. But the obvious reason is the OLED screen display supply.
Reliable KGI Securities analyst Ming-Chi Kuo came out with a report believing that the iPhone 8 will indeed come out in September. But that includes claims that the iPhone 8 will suffer from shortages, possibly for some time, Mac Rumors reported.
The claim of Ming-Chi Kuo somehow support an earlier fear suggested by Mac Otakara, thought that was more on not seeing the iPhone 8 come out in September. The reason behind it was the indecisive nature of Apple as far as the final look of the iPhone 8.
As most know, there are certain concerns tied up to the shift to OLED by the iPhone 8. That includes the location of the fingerprint sensor which could be placed at the rear instead. All these are left unanswered for now but would it affect the demand for the next Apple flagship?
Ming believes that the iPhone 8 demand could be affected but not significantly. The worst case scenario is seeing a decrease by 15 to 20 percent. Turning to the LCD variant could be an alternative but the technology could make buyers think twice. Rival brands like Samsung, Oppo and Xiaomi have been advancing faster than Apple so a bigger loss in revenue could occur if the Cupertino company is not careful.
