‘Grand Theft Auto Online’ Latest Update: Rockstar Goes Retro With ‘Tiny Racer’ Add-on

Most gamers are still enjoying “Grand Theft Auto Online” with the various DLCs that Rockstar Games has been rolling out. Most have probably tried the “GTA: Cunning Stunts” add-on, the one which added 16 brand-new, high-octane races ranging from winding tubular tracks amongst Los Santos’ tallest skyscrapers to technical courses through canyons, over water and across the desert.

While that may have given plenty of unthinkable possibilities to “Grand Theft Auto” Online players, another one is on the verge of adding gamers more possibilities with the anticipated coming of the “Tiny Racer” update. The patch is set to come out next week (April 25) carrying a retro perspective with the topside looking in, Kotaku reported.

Depending on how long one has played “Grand Theft Auto,” the upcoming “Tiny Racer” DLC rekindles the early days of the game, particularly during the age of “Grand Theft Auto II” and “Grand Theft Auto: London.” It somehow veers away from the battle of delivering high-resolution perspective though some nostalgic racing gamers would surely love to play the game it was before the big boom.

Considering “Grand Theft Auto Online” has been focusing on real-time graphics, the retro “Tiny Racer” update offers a more toy-like experience complimented by lots of mayhem and objectives before one reaches the finish line, Engadget reported. Some may not be interested but it does offer a different take from the recurring missions that the modern “Grand Theft Auto” title currently offers.

The decision to release a retro version for “Grand Theft Auto Online” could be in line with the resurgence of classic old games. Most have seen that on Nintendo’s end with its Super Family game console return so Rockstar may want some of the attention. The impact of “Tiny Racer” update may not be much but it does give folks a chance to recall their strategies from yesteryears – less the high-resolution graphics. Check out the trailer below.
