With Google's Pixel smartphones coming in as a success, everyone is now anticipating the next version of the Pixel. The rumor mill suggests that Google will usher in Google Pixel 2 and Google Pixel 2 XL this 2017.

Several reports claim that the two Pixel smartphones will be arriving this 2017. Google Pixel 2 with the codename "Wallaye" and Google Pixel 2 XL known to be as "Muskie". However, the listing also points to a third option called "Tiamen" for which it is reported to be a phablet-sized device. The same has been confirmed by Google hardware boss Rick Osterloh at the Mobile World Congress 2017 as reported by Tech Times.

With Google's inclination to giving fishy codenames, this actually offers some clues on what to expect from the upcoming devices. Here's a look at Google's previous devices that would paint us a picture of what the Google Pixel 2 and Google Pixel 2 XL would most likely look like as per Forbes: The firm released a 4.7-inch Nexus 4 (Mako) in 2012 while it launched a 5-inch iteration Nexus 5 (Hammerhead) a year after.

Before Google Pixel 2 and Google Pixel 2 XL, Google also released the 6-inch smartphone Nexus 6 (Shamu) three years ago. Finally, the upcoming smartphones' predecessors Nexus 5X and Nexus 6P were launched in 2015 with 5.2-inch and 5.7-inch displays. The previously unveiled Google Pixel and Google Pixel XL sported a 5.1-inch and 5.5-inch displays in 2016.

In line with this, A Walleye (Pixel 2) typically weighs about 24lbs and a Muskie (Pixel 2 XL) is roughly around 38lbs. Meanwhile, a Tiamen scales at a massive 220lbs. Considering these, the Google Pixel 2 could be the smallest followed by theGoogle Pixel 2 XL which is slightly larger. Finally, Tiamen could be considered the largest of the bunch and is rumored to be the new Nexus 7 tablet.

There has also been a great deal of interest for the Google Pixel 2 series specs. While there are not many details being leaked at this point, Google Pixel 2 and Google Pixel 2 XL are expected to boast impressive innovations over the previous generation of devices. The Google Pixel 2 series could have more attractive design and rumor has it that Google might switch to OLED. This would offer a large display that covers most of the front panel.

The forthcoming Google Pixel 2 and Google Pixel 2 XL are also expected to include 128 GB and 256 GB native storage configurations, 6GB RAM, 10mn Snapdragon 835 and Android 8.0 Oreo out of the box. For extra durability, it is expected that the Google Pixel 2 series devices will be dust and water-resistant.
