Samsung Gear VR (2017) Comes With Motion Controller, Makes It Costly Yet Useful

Motion controls had become a gaming necessity in the last couple of years. It as Google who brought up the Daydream project last year. Following their footsteps, Samsung too has introduced Gear VR that is ready to get its own motion controller.

Even though the gamers have seen a non functioning Gear VR controller, the tech experts got to try out for the first time last week. Interestingly, as per reports, Samsung and Oculus motion controller is all set to release on April 21. Bundled up with Gear VR, it would cost around $129.

Users who already have a Samsung Gear VR (2017) can buy motion controller can buy the product for $39. As per Oculus the 20 titles would support the controller during launch. These include the games such "Drop Dead", "Rangi" and over 50 more games that are on its way.

As per The Verge, the Samsung Gear VR (2017) controller is similar to Google's Daydream controller. It comes with a wand with an internal tracking sensor. This lets the user use it as a laser point inside the VR. It consists of a trackpad on one end as well as volume buttons and a few menu buttons.

The only functional difference between Google Daydream and Samsung Gear VR(2017) is that the latter comes with a functional trigger at one end. Google tested the trigger in the controller prototype, but didn't release it in the final hardware. Just like Oculus Rift's Touch controller, the Samsung Gear VR (2017) also uses disposable batteries, instead of charging through USB-C like Daydream controller.
