Microsoft Releases Big Xbox One Update Improving Overall Dashboard Performance

Mar 30, 2017 07:18 AM EDT

Microsoft released on Wednesday, March 29, major updates for its game console under an Xbox One Update. The new features and refinements for the console focus on the improvement of the overall dashboard performance. The update also made available quicker access to features that are frequently used.

Smaller Icons

On top of the Xbox One Update is the smaller icons for the game currently being played on the Home screen. There is also the option to jump to a related area such as Game Hub. There is artwork from the game being played in the background if the player does not have a custom background art set, GameSpot reports.

The Guide screen, besides being refined under the Xbox One Update, could now be accessed with just one press off the Xbox button instead of two presses. The first tab allows the gamer to access the My Games and Apps section or move to the Home Screen. The console owner could record clips of up to five minutes or begin recording a manual clip up to 10 minutes through the GameDVR menu.

Beam Game-Live streaming Service Arrives on April 11

On April 11, the Beam game livestreaming service, another major feature of the Xbox One Update, would come to Windows 10. There are also a customizable on-screen Achievement tracker, passthrough for Blu-ray player bitstream, a co-pilot accessibility feature and a full rundown on the Xbox Wire.

Gamer News Daily adds that under the Xbox One Update, Cortana would appear as an overlay on the screen. The feature would allow the player to select and follow multiple achievements in an overlay while playing simultaneously. These changes improve the cluttered overlays console owners have to deal with since Xbox One’s launch.

The newly launched Xbox One Update came two years after Microsoft added the ability to take screenshots, a suggested friend feature to find other users, a variable tile transparency on the dashboard and a report button for spam messages, according to Eurogamer.
