‘Call of Duty’ PS4 Latest News: Leaked Promotional Image Shows World War II Setting; Sledgehammer Takes the Franchise Back to Its Roots

Mar 28, 2017 09:37 AM EDT

"Call of Duty" promotional leaked image has been posted by The FamilyVideoGamers YouTube channel, in which the picture reveals a WWII setting for the upcoming "CoD" title. Not only the promotional image but the promotional poster also includes features like D-Day landings alongside with SteelBook cases for the game.

It seems positive to conclude that the "Call of Duty" promotional leaked image might become a reality after all.  The Game Studio Sledgehammer COO, Thomas Tippl said that the upcoming title of "CoD" would feature more 'traditional combat', making the franchise going back to its roots. This statement was made after the space setting for "Call of Duty: Infinite Warfare" didn't go as plan.

"Call of Duty" promotional leaked image certainly sparks fans' interest after the lukewarm reaction to last year's game. The previous "CoD" game setting was good but not good enough if compared to other FPS like "Battlefield 1" which takes place in WWI.

Going back to the franchise's roots by setting the game world in WWII does make sense for the first three "Call of Duty" titles were set during the World War II. According to VG247, the Sledgehammer co-founder, Michael Condrey, previously conveyed his interest in developing the "CoD" game with this setting back on 2014.

The "Call of Duty" promotional leaked image also reveals that the new title will be set in London during one of the Great World Wars. This statement was based on old Sledgehammer's twitter post, as reported by Express.

Since both Activision and Sledgehammer haven't given any official confirmation about the "Call of Duty" promotional leaked image, it's best to take this news with a pinch of salt. The "CoD" title will be released later on PS4, Xbox One, and PC.
