China's biggest smartphone maker, Huawei, is set to conquer the US Market with its partnership with Amazon to bring Alexa on its very first over-the-air update for Mate 9's US owners. According to CNBC, Huawei is ranked as the third largest smartphone maker. It may not yet be the most sought-after android smartphone brand in stores today, but its attempt to collaborate with one of the leading voice assistants could enable them to expand their market share not only in China but also to the other parts of the globe. Reports suggest that the large-screen phablet has received good reviews, but has not really dominated the US stores nationwide in view of the limited phone brands being sold by big carriers.
Nonetheless, the move made by Alexa marks a giant leap from moving beyond its target: from home then into mobile. This March, Alexa has become available on iPhone through the Amazon app. There was also purported information that Amazon is under negotiations of integrating Alexa on selected Motorola android phones, as per CNBC.
Reports from Cnet convey that the large-screen phablet may experience limitations from the famous virtual voice assistant. Users need to download two mobile applications such as Amazon Alexa and Huawei Alexa app in order for it to listen to users. It also cannot be linked to the phone's contacts, GPS or play Amazon Prime Music. But Amazon's Alexa also helps Huawei Mate 9 with several tasks.
The biggest advantage of the software is that it can remotely control Alexa-compatible smart home features such as lights, temperature, and other appliances. As per Android Authority, it can help find a restaurant, movie or certain business. It can obtain information when asked about famous places, date, and people. It can order from Amazon Prime. It can hear traffic or weather updates.
