OnePlus 4 Update: A New Name For The Next 'Flagship Killer?'

Mar 16, 2017 02:39 AM EDT

After an image was leaked on Twitter, OnePlus 4 may be launched ahead of its scheduled release date. In addition, the mobile change its name to OnePlus 5 to avoid bad luck.

The Chinese creators of OnePlus 4 were reported to able to stand out due to their ability to offer high-end hardware that could be available for cheaper price. It is also observed that OnePlus was far from underselling because of its specs and features kind of resembles with the high-end cellular devices.

Techradar reported in their article that the creators of OnePlus 4 are sticking to their principles that they should never settle. This is observable on their previous creation, the OnePlus 3T, which has a 6GB RAM and high-end spec but only available at $439.

Even if it receives multiple praises for its specs and price, the phone mentioned has still some errors that were noticed by users. They would just have to wait for the official launch of the OnePlus 4 to know what improvements the creators did to the device.

There is also a discourse going on about the name of the phone since there are rumors that the OnePlus 4 will be called OnePlus 5. PC Advisor reported that its Chinese creators believe that number 4 is an unlucky number because it is associated with demise and decrease.

If they are going to the plan of replacing the name of OnePlus 4 to OnePlus 5, they are following the trends of Chinese companies skipping the number four in their product names. Another Chinese company Cannon named their camera G5 after G3 in their PowerShot G-Series as a compliance to the Chinese superstition.

Tapscape has reported that OnePlus 4 release could be around June or May this year. However, there are some leaked announcements that anticipated users could receive this at an earlier date.

Unlike Apple and Samsung, the creators of OnePlus 4 don't follow any patterns in releasing their products. Users of OnePlus phones should just wait for an official announcement of the release date.
