Facebook is Developing Reaction Buttons On Messenger, Including The Dislike Button

Facebook is reportedly developing a new feature that would extend a user's ability to express their reaction from their newsfeed to their Facebook Messenger in just one click. In the future, Facebook users can finally choose a response button beyond the "like" button.

Andrew Liptak of TechCrunch has reported that Facebook is currently testing new reactions feature in the Messenger. It would allow users to add more reaction emojis beside the text conversations.

"We're always testing ways to make Messenger more fun and engaging. This is a small test where we enable people to share an emoji that best represents their feelings on a message," Facebook has confirmed to TechCrunch. Users could finally do this by clicking on a button that would be found beside the text, which would pop up a series of reactions. These reactions are the same with the current six reactions Facebook has provided like like, love, laugh, surprised, sad, and mad.

But there would be a new addition to the list that would make the users happy. Tech website 9 to 5 Mac  reporter Chance Miller wrote that Facebook is planning to add a dislike button as one of the reactions in the Messenger.

Tech Crunch writer Josh Constine has also reported that Facebook also said that an addition to the six reactions are the reaction counter. This reaction counter would list the number of reactions on any line given.

It has been a long time since users have been requesting for a dislike or thumbs down button. However, Facebook chose not to grant their request and opted to create a wider range of reactions that Facebook users are seeing these days.

Unfortunately, this Facebook development feature is still not available for everyone. The company is currently conducting various tests of the reactions feature with small groups of users before releasing it to the larger population of Facebook users.
