Sony Xperia XZ Premium Update: Slow-Mo Camera Feature and More

Mar 02, 2017 04:03 AM EST

The Sony Xperia XZ Premium has been launched at the recent Mobile World Congress 2017 in Barcelona, Spain and it has been garnering attention with its announcement. But people could still be looking for more news in this smartphone.

John Velasco of Android Authority has reported that the Sony Xperia XZ Premium has an offer to everyone who loves using their smartphone for photo purposes. Upon revisiting the booth at the 2017 Mobile World Congress, it was noticed that the phone has a new camera, a 19-megapixel camera with an Exmor RS sensor.

With this package in Sony Xperia XZ Premium, the megapixel count is what most people would tend from the usual phones. It has the ability to capture mind-numbing slow-motion videos at 960 frames per second.

"That's no joke people, especially when you think about what goes into all of that! Time is effectively slowed down enough to the point you see things that are usually unseen by the eye," Velasco noted in his article.

BBC News also noted that the rate of 960 FPS was already used by other camera smartphones in recording video files but Sony Xperia XZ Premium has something better to do with it.

In most smartphones, when shooting a video footage, there is another on-screen button that a user is required to tap on to enable the mode to be used. The user needs to see the wiping motion on the screen that indicated the moment when the faster frame is going to be enabled.

But with Sony Xperia XZ Premium, this procedure would not happen and it would save time for the users. Unlike most phones that shoot the video first, trim, then execute the slow motion, the phone can do it all in one.

"Still, the footage you can capture are just undeniably awe-inspiring. When we say slowing down time to see all the stuff that's unseen, we mean every bit of it! Just take a look for yourself what kind of motion it's able to capture," Velasco said.

Sky News also noted that the phone has a 5.5-inch HDR screen with water-resistant feature. The device will be released in the UK at £1,278.
