Apple Seeds tvOS 10.2 Beta 4 For Apple TV To Developers Only For Testing

Mar 02, 2017 03:22 AM EST

After just a little over a week when Apple seeded the third tvOS 10.2 update, the Cupertino-based tech giant seeded on Tuesday the fourth beta of the upcoming tvOS 10.2 update for testing to developers. It is more than a month since the release of the current version of tvOS, the tvOS 10.1.1. It is designed for fourth-generation Apple TV.

How To Receive The Update

According to MacRumors, to obtain the fourth tvOS 10.2 beta, the Apple TV should be connected to a computer. Use a USB-C to USB-A cable then download and install the software from a registered developer account through iTunes or Apple Configurator. After installing a profile, subsequent betas could be downloaded over-the-air.

Because of the tricky installation requirements, Apple limited the tvOS betas to developers and excluded the public. The tvOS 10.2 beta would introduce better scrolling behavior and would permit the tvOS user to scroll through the big list of information quicker. To automatically activate the new scrolling mode, make a large swipe on the Siri remote. To navigate particular indexes, swipe on the far right side of the remote.

Minor Changes With tvOS 10.2 Beta

Appleadvice reports that among the minor changes that come with the tvOS 10.2 beta are accelerated scrolling support for UIKit and TVMLKit app, support for Device Enrollment Program, support for Expanded Mobile Device Management and support for the Video Toolbox framework. For viewers, the software supports Theater Mode and SiriKit which are two major features. The public would receive the new tvOS software in spring together with iOS 10.3 and watchOS 3.2.

9to5Mac adds that the tvOS 10.2 beta excludes flashy new features. It is because Apple has been improving steadily the platform though new video features to include the new TV app and Single Sign-on. The new TV app is one place to access movies and shows from multiple video app but in one unified experience.
