‘Pokemon GO’ Gen 2 News: 6 Pokemon In Gen 2 Add To List Of Elusive Characters In ‘Pokemon GO’

Feb 24, 2017 07:13 AM EST

It has been six months since Niantic launched “Pokemon GO,” but until now some characters remain elusive to gamers. Players identify some of the rarest creatures as the flying trio Articuno, Zapdos and Moltres and Mewtwo and Mew from Red, Blue, and White. The release of the game’s Gen 2 added more elusive characters.

Eurogamer names the difficult-to-catch characters in Gen 2 as Legendary canines Raikou, Entei and Suicune, and Lugia, Ho-oh, and Celebi which are final Pokedex entries. The 12 are the rarest creatures of “Pokemon GO” and no player had located them within the game. But Niantic confirms at the “Pokemon GO” San Diego Comic-Con panel that the Legendaries are on the way and would appear in the game in some form.

Focus Of 1st Trailer

One of the Legendary Pokemon, Mewtwo, was the focus of one of “Pokemon GO’s” first trailers. The trailer showed a lot of people in Times Square grouping into teams to fight Mewtwo which was eventually captured. The suggestion shown by the trailer is that public events instead of random encounters are when Mewtwo, as well as other Legendaries, would be unlocked.

Eurogamer adds that Raikou, Entei, Suicune, Lugia, Ho-oh, and Celebi have shown up in data mining efforts. Their stats have appeared along with the birds Mew and Mewtwo. These six, according to stats, are among the best Pokemon in “Pokemon GO.” Ho-Oh and Mewtwo logged some of the highest base attacks in the game, even higher than Alakazam and Dragonite which are existing creatures.

Baby Pokemon Dropped On Dec. 12

Although Niantic had launched the “Pokemon GO” Gen 2 update, Birmingham Mail points out that only Baby Pokemon, which dropped on Dec. 12, has appeared. The rest of the 80 to 100 Pokemon would be added in the coming months, according to rumors. It adds that Gen 2 eggs collected from Dec. 12 are not hatching. So far, 1,621 eggs have been collected, however, none had hatched in Baby Pokemon’s evolved form.

Meanwhile, BGR has its own list of six rare and Legendary Pokemon no one had been found in “Pokemon GO.” It particularly cited Delibird and Smeargie. Among the guesses the site suggested are that Delibird could be exclusively for one region only, likely the Arctic, and as a delivery Pokemon, he could be saved for a holiday event. Smeargie, because of his unique abilities, could appear a few months in the later part of 2017.
