Samsung Galaxy Note 8: Three Smartphones That Could Defeat Them This Year

Feb 22, 2017 03:57 AM EST

Samsung has been hyping up the Samsung Galaxy Note 8 as one of 2017's most anticipated smartphones. After the disastrous PR damage from the infamous Note 7 disaster, the huge South Korean technology conglomerate is hoping that this is a significant step to redeem themselves.

With the recent rumors and leaks about Samsung Galaxy Note 8, it could be Samsung's biggest comeback in the tech market. It could establish itself as a powerhouse smartphone once again and in best case scenario, be declared by the majority as 2017's best phablet.

However, there are still rumors about the Samsung Galaxy Note 8 that could discourage consumers from trusting Samsung again. The speculations surround from a robot device with a Qualcomm Snapdragon 835 SoC to 6GB of Ram. The 4K screen revamped S-Pen and a redesigned frame are also speculated that it would be for the pamphlet.

The Samsung Galaxy Note 8 appears to be polarizing. Worse for Samsung, these three could actually prevent their chances of being one of the most respected smartphone-producing companies in the world. Take a look at them:

iPhone 8

Samsung and Apple's rivalry has been a staple since the introduction of touchscreen smartphones last decade. The competition between the two huge smartphone makers is expected to be fiercer this year.

While Note 8 promises to be Samsung's most powerful mobile device this year, iPhone 8 (also called iPhone X) would like to challenge that since it is the 10th-anniversary device of Apple's smartphone series.

Most people could argue that Apple's features could be inferior to Samsung's specs and features but speculations are rising about the innovative new specs and feature of the iPhone 8. MacRumors says that iPhone 8 is rumored to have an A11 processor, 5.8-inch OLED display, and a completely redesigned body and features such as the mini Touch Bar and facial recognition software.

LG V30

Yahoo said that the LG V30 is a device that is created to defeat the Samsung Galaxy Note 8. The LG V20 received great reviews from critics and users for its specs and unique features. Despite these offers and services, the device is not at the same par with Samsung and Apple in terms of popularity and market share.

The LG V30 is expected to equip a Snapdragon 835 processor, paired with 6GB of RAM. Slashgear also reported that the LG V30 is will have a secondary for the user to multitask.

What could be the LG V30's edge over the Samsung Galaxy Note 8 might is its camera features. Reports said that LG V30 has a four-camera system with dual lenses for both its front and rear cameras. On the other hand, Samsung only has a single-sensor unit in its phone.

Google Pixel XL 2

The Google Pixel XL was considered by critics and users as one of the best smartphones of 2016, if not the best. A Google product, Google Pixel is described as sleek, powerful and compatible with Android operating system's latest version. Google Pixel XL 2 is expected to set the bar higher to make its predecessor also a competition.

TechRadar says that Google Pixel XL 2 would feature a Snapdragon 835 SoC and 6GB of RAM. Google Pixel XL 2 is also expected to be the best in the smartphone photography, in which Samsung Galaxy Note 8 should take note.

Not only that, Pixel XL 2's edge is its own unique operating system. It is expected for them to use Android O for their device.
