The new Android app was recently released by Pimsleur. The app launch is in honor of its 50th Anniversary. The Android Course Manager App is available through the Google Play Store. According to Pimsleur, the app is compatible and free with purchase of digital lessons. Perfect for using on your phone during a daily commute, road trip, or even while on a long flight to your destination. The lessons are only 30 minutes, and recommended daily.

The Free App is for customers of pimsleurdigital.com that have previously purchased a downloadable course, and does not come with any Pimsleur lessons when users download it. The user is required to enter their pimsleurdigital.com user-id and password from the website into the App, and all courses inthe account will be available for transfer to the App.

Pimsleur also released a study called Americans and Language: Perceptions and Realities, which found:

  • The majority (73%) of Americans are unable to hold a conversation in more than one language.

  • 70 percent incorrectly believe that English is the most commonly spoken language in the world.

  • Americans have concerns with learning a new language

  • Approximately 32% cite difficulty and 29% cite not having enough time as biggest challenges

  • Nearly one-fifth (18 percent) of Americans felt they were “too old’ to learn a language

  • 16 percent were intimidated by the thought of learning a new language

The Pimsleur Course Manager App for Android is considered the best way to learn a foreign language. The App was designed to organize all of the audio files that make up a Pimsleur Language Programs Course into one seamless program that lets you focus on learning a language, not juggling digital downloads.

The Pimsleur Method is a scientifically proven method that works very well if the user follows the recommended approach of listening to one 30 minute lesson a day in order. With the Pimsleur Course App the user does not have to worry about what lesson they are on, the App keeps track for the user.
