Android OS App Development is the fastest platform than iOS or Windows Phone. According to Evans Data, after conducting a worldwide survey of 464 mobile app developers, over 40 per cent of developers targeting Android said their typical app is finished in one month or less. Janel Garvin, CEO of Evans Data, stated Android's position as an open platform is what has allowed it to jump ahead of iOS. Only 36 per cent could say the same for iOS and 34 per cent for Windows Phone.
"Targeting multiple screen sizes is definitely the way to go," Garvin said. "The benefit of having your app run across the gamut of device types is obvious, and while there are difficulties in synchronization across device types, and in the range of graphics capabilities that are supported by different screens, the benefits still outweigh the effort."
Google Android led as the #1 smartphone platform with 52.2 percent platform market share. Google Sites ranked as the top mobile media property, while Facebook was the top individual app according the the latest report for the October 2013 U.S. Smartphone Subscriber Market Share released by comScore. Google offers a variety of services through the Android platform. Android developers and users can integrate the latest Google features to apps, such as sign-in, maps, and mobile payments.
Google Sites was also ranked as the top web property on smartphones, reaching 88 percent of the mobile media audience (mobile browsing and app usage). Android’s Google Play was at 54 percent. Google Play has certainly been well adopted within the market. Its top competitors are Apple and Amazon. Android become a leading place to search and find Android apps for smartphones and tablet devices running on Google’s Android operating system.
Android OS still remains dominant in the smartphone market. Strong demand for smartphones across all geographies will drive much of this growth as worldwide smartphone shipments are expected to surpass 1 billion units for the first time in a single year, according to the International Data Corporation (IDC) Worldwide Quarterly Mobile Phone Tracker. Android OS shares may decline due to market maturity and competition. Google’s Android OS is leading the Android smartphone market. Low cost smartphone device revenues still remain strong in emerging markets.
