Samsung Developer Day

Feb 20, 2014 12:21 PM EST

Samsung’s upgraded SDK of 2014 for developing services and apps running on Samsung smart devices are to be introduced at the upcoming Samsung Developer Day. Samsung Electronics recently announced it will host a developer event at the Mobile World Congress (MWC), the world’s largest exhibition for the mobile industry to be held from Feb 24 to 27 in Barcelona, Spain.

The upcoming event is set to be hosted for App Planet. The audience is geared for those engaged in the app industry. The Samsung Developer Day had taken place annually since 2011 at the MWC. Samsung announced last year the release of five SDKs. The new software development kits were created for developers to develop consumer apps and devices for its enterprise customers. The company stated the SDKs were more streamlined. Samsung presently does not have a proprietary software platform to offer unique services.

Samsung’s new Software Development Kit (SDK) will be introduced and exhibition booths for applications developed with SDK by Samsung’s partners will be set up specifically for the event for the first time. On Feb 26, the third day of the MWC, the Samsung Developer Day 2014 will introduce upgraded Samsung Mobile SDK, Samsung MultiScreen SDK, and Samsung MultiScreen Gaming Platform.

Samsung Electronics Chairman Lee Kun Hee is urging employees to become more innovative and to adopt new ways of thinking. The company is aiming to steer beyond their focus on hardware towards its further growth. “We have to change once again,” Lee Kun Hee stated. “We must give a bigger push for innovations, including in business structure, so that we can lead industry trends.”

The Samsung Mobile SDK will feature a variety of programs for developers including an award ceremony for the Samsung Smart App Challenge for Galaxy S4, an app development contest held successfully in 2013 and a presentation by the CEO of VisionMobile on the latest mobile app development trends for 2014, based on the largest ever survey of more than 7,000 mobile developers.
