Verizon Wireless Now Releases Android Security Patch Intended For Two LG Smartphones

Verizon Wireless now launches the latest Android security patch intended for LG G4 and LG V10. The software version was identified as VS99028A for the LG V10 and VS9862BA for the LG G4. The update was distributed over-the-air (OTA) and should precede an update notification.

According to Geeky Gadgets, Verizon didn't release any changes included in these latest updates. The main focus is the most up to date Android Security Patch presumably for the month of June. With that, LG V10 and LG G4 users are advised to apply the update soon as possible in order to maintain their smartphone's security and make away with certain vulnerabilities within the Android platform.

Verizon Wireless advises users to apply the update while their smartphones. LG V10 and LG G4 must have their batteries fully charged, and preferably over an active Wi-Fi network in order to avoid slow download speeds.

The LG V10 and LG G4 were the South Korean company's top-tier smartphones throughout 2015. These devices both ran Android 5.1.1 Lollipop at launch and both have been upgraded to Android 6.0 Marshmallow.

According to Android Soul, LG previously claimed that the Android Nougat update for the LG V10 will become available in the second half of the year. True enough, the smartphone made the jump to Android Nougat in South Korea last month. On the other hand, the LG G4 intends on launching Android Nougat in the third quarter of the year. However, the LG V10 and LG G4 owners who have acquired their smartphones through Verizon Wireless may have to wait longer before Android Nougat will be ready for carrier variants.

LG Company previously confirmed that the Snapdragon 808 SoC powering both LG V10 and LG G4 is not optimized for Android Nougat. However, the chipset should provide more than enough power for the task and LG has been working on making the latest version of Android OS available.
