Android 7.1.2 Nougat Update: Google To Roll Out Update To Pixel Phones On April 3

This is not an April Fools' Joke. The Android 7.1.2 Nougat could finally be received by all Android users this April 3, around six weeks after the initial release of the beta build for some Nexus and Pixel phones.

Rogers, the largest carrier in Canada, has listed that all Pixel phones will receive the Android 7.1.2 Nougat update that would enable Voice Over LTE and the latest security updates on April 3. ExpressUK has reported that the Voice Over LTE could allow users to have phone calls with the use of their Internet connection instead of depending on the phone's signals.

It is not really something news since Rogers has been testing the Voice Over LTE on the Pixel devices using the Android 7.1.2 Nougat beta. The previous update does not enable Voice Over LTE.

The public release of the Android 7.1.2 Nougat update also correlates with what Android Vice President Dave Burke said in his blog post dated last January. He said that Google is preparing a public release for a couple of months and it finally came true.

The Android 7.1.2 beta for selected Pixel and Nexus devices was described by Google as an "an incremental maintenance release focused on refinements" including "bug fixes and optimizations, along with a small number of enhancements for carriers and users," according to an article in YugaTech.

But come to think of it that Roger's announcement is still not an official confirmation that Google will have a wide release of the Android 7.1.2 Nougat Update. However, the first week of April is always the time when Google release OTA images security bulletins and factory images every month.

While it is not the expected news about the Android 7.1.2 Nougat update, there is also no huge assurance that it will be released on April 3. For Pixel owners on Rogers, this is a great news for your phone.
