Energizer and accessories manufacturer PDP have begun recalling their whole inventory of Xbox peripheral chargers due to a potential overheating hazard that might be inflammable. On their own website, their statement mentioned that the company has already begun asking their customers to stop using the Energizer Xbox One Smart controller charger, provided a battery pack that works with Xbox One's controllers.

Further details from Venture Beat revealed that the chargers would overheat when users tried to pick it up post-charging and people ended up suffering from painful burns. This is a serious and hazardous issue when it comes to the protection of humans from potential safety hazards.

The combo offered by PDP comes with the smart controller charger and the Energizer batteries that are sold as a single pack. The dual-controller charging dock is now authorized for a callback and has also registered the callback with the United States' Consumer Product Safety Commission.

The report from the Consumer Product Safety Commission, CPSC reveals PDP is now working to get all their units off shelves wherever marketed in the United States. Apparently, PDP managed to sell 121,000 units that were among those affected and is also tied to a single item batch number.

Popular retailers like GameStop, BestBuy had stocked the said charging dock in great numbers but that said, those users affected by the problem has to authorize a return from PDP's official website instead of taking it back to the place of purchase. Item Number 048-052-NA is printed on the bottom of the chargers.

While Energizer has been a fairly known battery manufacturer, something like this will certainly affect their credibility especially when their advertisements mention they last longer than their competitor products. It's also currently being determined whether Energizer might be subjected to a liability lawsuit.
