Apple WWDC 2017 Seen Refreshed iMacs Featuring Kaby Lake Processors, Brighter Displays & Thunderbolt 3

At WWDC Apple has finally unveiled its much awaited new iMacs. All iMac 2017 models receive Intel's 7th Generation Kaby Lake processors and more updates.

The new Apple iMacs have up to three times more powerful graphics abilities in comparison to earlier generations, faster processors, Thunderbolt 3, and faster storage options. Apple claimed that the updates, along with refreshes of the MacBook, represent a lineup of Mac devices that are "stronger than ever." 

With the iMac 2017 refresh, a Retina 4K display is also coming to the 21.5-inch iMac 2017. Both the 21.5-inch and 27-inch iMacs boasts faster Kaby Lake processors up to 4.2 GHz, with Turbo Boost speeds up to 4.5 GHz. The latest iMacs support twice the memory as the earlier generation, and Fusion Drive will now be standard on all 27-inch iMac configurations, also on the top-end 21.5-inch iMac, according to Mac Rumors.

The new iMac 2017 displays sports 500 nits, are 43 percent brighter and include 10-bit dithering (8-bit panels) and support for one billion colors. All 27-inch iMacs 2017 come with Fusion drives standard, and SSDs are optional, as reported by Extreme Tech.

SSD storage will become 50 percent faster on the refreshed iMacs. The newly refreshed graphics on the computers are also more powerful because of new a Radeon Pro 500-series card which is having up to 8GB of vRAM. In terms of faster performance, the 21.5-inch model delivers up to three times faster speeds as compared to the previous iMacs, while the 27-inch model is up to 50 percent faster. 

The latest iMac models start at $1,099 for the 21.5-inch iMac, $1,299 for the 4K 21.5-inch iMac, and $1,799 for the 5K 27-inch iMac. Both iMac models are available to purchase today.

Apple has also been making lots of announcements during its annual developer conference. It has shown off a new version of the software that powers iPhones and iPads as well as an upgrade for Apple Watch.
