AMD's first graphics card based on its new Vega architecture will be launched on June 27, CEO Dr. Lisa Su revealed at a press conference at this week's Computex technology convention in Taipei, Taiwan. The gaming-oriented Radeon RX Vega card is reportedly delayed until late this year or next year in 2018.

AMD Radeon Vega Frontier Edition card will target the professional workstation market as an upgrade to the Radeon Pro Duo, Radeon Pro WX 7100, and compete for graphics card solutions. The AMD Vega Frontier Edition consists of 4,096 stream processors, also known as 64 compute units, 16GB of HBM2 dedicated video memory, and around 25 teraflops of computing performance, as reported by Digital Trends.

Towards the end of the press conference, CEO Su has revealed details regarding the launch would be provided during SIGGRAPH 2017 that starts on July 30 and ends on August 3. Sponsored by the Association for Computing Machinery, this conference focuses on professional computer graphics and "interactive techniques."

SIGGRAPH is an interesting choice for a venue since it's not a consumer event (as opposed to say E3 or IFA), but AMD is no stranger to the show, having released their Radeon WX professional products there last year. SIGGRAPH runs from July 30th to August 3rd, so it's approximately exactly 2 months out, according to Gamers Nexus.

In other Vega news, AMD CEO Su said that there will be more talk about the upcoming Radeon Instinct MI25 graphics card on June 20. This card will head straight into the data center to accelerate machine intelligence, as it's designed for deep learning training.

June 20 will also serve as the launch date for AMD's return to the data center with its new lineup of Epyc processors for servers, which are also known as Naples. However, the AMD Vega-powered Radeon Instinct MI25 card won't be launched at that time.
