"Sonic Mania" is now offering the classic Sega Genesis trinity of Sonic, Tails, and Knuckles. Most footage of the game was focused entirely on the blue hedgehog; Sonic's, the star who pays the bill, but his co-stars should get at least some time in the main spotlight.

According to Polygon, the latest "Sonic Mania" footage will finally give Knuckles his due as he gets to blast through Flying Battery Zone, which is a new take on the classic mechanized zone from Sonic & Knuckles. The game stage looks mostly familiar, as well as new elements such as magnetized areas that react when you pick up a lightning shield has also been added.

The "Sonic Mania" also features a nice look at what make Knuckles unique, as the main character gets to show off his gliding and wall climbing abilities. There's a reason even people who hate Sonic sidekicks generally tolerate Knuckles.

As reports were gathered, Sonic Mania is a new retro-style platformer being produced by a cadre of hardcore hedgehog fans. The Sega Genesis describes the game as a brand-new Sonic adventure, where players can race through all-new Zones and fully re-imagined classics; each filled with exciting surprises and powerful bosses.

Meanwhile, Harness Sonic's new Drop Dash, Knuckles, and Tail Flight are climbing abilities to defeat the evil Dr. Eggman's robots. Players must expect to discover a myriad of never seen before hidden paths and mysteries.

According to PC Gamer, this all-new experience celebrates the best of Classic Sonic, pushing the envelope forward with stunning 60 FPS gameplay and pixel-perfect physics. All players are welcome to the next level of the world's fastest blue hedgehog; welcome to Sonic Mania.

"Sonic Mania" was reported to be delayed until sometime this summer, along with an early September release date that has been speculated. "Sonic Mania" was set to hit PS4, PC, Nintendo Switch, and Xbox One. Stay tuned for more updates as the game hits these consoles.
