Speculated Delay Of iPhone 8 Release To 2018 Could Cause Apple Device Fans To Further Withhold Purchase Decisions

A research note from Deutsche Bank analysts may lead to problems for Apple. The report from ValueWalk by the analysts was published on Sunday. It stated the iPhone 8 would not launch in 2017 because of the shortage of key components and technical challenges facing the Cupertino-based tech giant. The news may further slow sales of current models of iPhones.

Before the note came out on Mail Online, previous reports say that Apple is pushing the roll-out of its 10th anniversary iPhone, more known as iPhone 8, to late 2017 instead of the usual September launch for its new flagship. Apple fans who plan to buy new iPhones often hold off purchase decisions until the new flagship is revealed in the third quarter of the year.

However, with the latest news, chances are more Apple device users who hold off buying a new iPhone until the speculated iPhone 8 would be announced. The rumored new features of the upcoming flagship such as OLED screen, no Home button, wireless charging, and security features are the reasons behind the delayed purchase decision of Apple fans.

The delayed purchase decision could worsen the nine-year low in iPhone purchase intent. MacRumors reports that even if Apple CEO Tim Cook has not read in depth the results of a 451 research survey, he admitted at the second quarter earnings call on Monday that Apple noticed a pause in the purchase of iPhone because of frequent reports about  delay in the release of future iPhones, especially the iPhone 8.

Apple has not confirmed the iPhone 8 officially. But many reports and notes from analysts say that Apple would release three flagship phones in 2017. One of it is the speculated 10th anniversary iPhone expected to have a price tag of more than $1,000, according to Business Insider. However, the device has been hounded lately by rumors of further delay due to insufficient supply of the OLED display which is manufactured by rival Samsung Electronics.
