HTC One M9 was among the first handsets from 2015 to get the current Android 7.0 Nougat update. However, this was only true for the unlocked variant. Now the devices in Asia are getting the latest OS update.

HTC has started rolling out Android 7.0 Nougat update to One M9 unit last year in December to unlocked variants which were followed by the release of the new software update to locked variants one month later. Since then there are quite a number of regions who has to receive the Android 7.0 Nougat update, but it's only now that those in Asia can now get the update on their HTC One M9.

According to GSM Arena, the Android 7.0 Nougat update is hitting the HTC One M9 as over the air. The Android 7.0 Nougat update arrives as build no 4.23.425.1 and also includes the latest security patch along with all the new Android goodies that come with Nougat. Update packs a bunch of system performance enhancements, bug fixes as well as the latest monthly security patch from Google.

According to The Android Soul, since it's a major update it is weighing a massive 1.5GB. With this in mind, the HTC recommends users connect to the internet using a Wi-Fi hotspot in order to avoid additional data charges. As noted earlier, HTC One M9 users will be receiving the update over the air, which means that not every user of the phone in Asia will be receiving the Android 7.0 Nougat update at the same time; rather, the update will be rolling out in stages, with some users set to get the OTA notification later in the week.

If OTA update still not arrived at some device then the user can try and do a manual update. An update can be check manually by visiting Settings > About device > System updates. If the files are ready to download and install the update on HTC One M9, make sure that the smartphone's battery is at least 50% charged before proceeding with the update.
