iPad Air 2 Latest News & Updates: Upcoming Apple Tablet To Replace iPad 4?

The Apple iPad 4 was released back in September 2012. A year later it was pulled out from the market and resurfaced again briefly in March 2014. Fast forwarding today, rumors have been circling that the fourth-generation iPad will finally be replaced by the Apple iPad Air 2.

Reports from Mac Rumors indicate via a memo that states, "Starting March 30, iPad 4th generation whole unit repairs may be substituted to iPad Air 2 models. Apple's repair and order management tool will indicate for each repair if a substitution will take place. Please note the substitute part's color and capacity to ensure the customer understands what their replacement iPad whole unit will be." Further reports suggest that this is due to the fact that the supply for the Apple iPad 4 is dwindling down very fast and that the Apple iPad Air 2 is available more readily.

Meanwhile, Apple Insider shares that in the last two weeks, there had been significant decline in the amount of Apple iPad 4 units in stock. Spot-checks were conducted on 20 Apple retail stores. Furthermore, reports claim that the service units for the Apple iPad 4 have been arriving in irregular basis.

On the other hand, before a consumer gets the Apple iPad Air 2 in exchange for a broken Apple iPad 4, the store will reportedly assess the device first before making the decision. Customers should also keep in mind that the Apple iPad Air 2 is subject to availability per region. This entails that if a user's area has stocks for the Apple iPad 4, then he will be getting the same device and not the Apple iPad Air 2. Ultimately, the decision will be on a case-to-case basis and upon the discretion of the store managers and is most likely to depend upon the availability of each tablet in the customer's region.
