Samsung Delays Nougat Updates In U.K. For Galaxy S6 & S6 Edge Pending Review Of Update Quality

Samsung assured owners of Galaxy S6 and Galaxy S6 Edge phones in the U.K. that they would eventually receive the Android 7.0 Nougat update “at the earliest opportunity.” However, the two devices are for now excluded from receiving the update because Samsung is still reviewing the quality of the update. But owners of Galaxy S7 and Galaxy S7 Edge phones in the U.K. started to receive the update several weeks ago.

Broken Promise. Android Authority reports that a Samsung executive in Turkey said that by the end of February, the Galaxy S6 and Galaxy S6 Edge would begin to receive the Android 7.0 Nougat update. He also estimated that in the same period, the Galaxy Note 5 and Galaxy S6 Edge Plus would also get the update. A leak of the manual says most of the Nougat features on the Galaxy S7 would also be rolled out to the Galaxy S6.

Phone Arena points out that the Android 7.0 Nougat update would be the last one that the Galaxy S6 and Galaxy S6 Edge would receive because these two models are already two years old. It would also be the case for the Galaxy S6 Edge Plus which is slightly newer than the two phones. Samsung is expected to continue releasing the S6 family security updates throughout 2017 and beyond.

Turkey Also. Techno Buffalo notes that it is not only in the U.K. where the Android 7.0 Nougat update is delayed but also in Turkey. The updates were also expected in the Asian country on Feb. 27, although the reason behind the delay is unknown. Android Authority adds that some of the new camera modes on the Galaxy S7 would not be on the Galaxy S6 Nougat update as well as the motion panorama feature, Performance mode, Video Enhancer and Always On Display option with the Nougat update.
