A KGI analyst has rumored that the users' front-facing camera experience with iPhone 8 would be better than ever. The camera system will be fueled by PrimeSense algorithms.

The rumored iPhone 8 upgrade is described by KGI Securities analyst Ming-Chi Kuo as an edge-to-edge OLED display that would have a revolutionary front-facing camera system. This system consists of three modules that would enable fully-featured 3D settings capabilities.

The three modules already include an existing front camera module found on current iPhones, an infrared transmitting module, and an infrared receiving module. Mac Rumors said in an article that with these advancements, iPhone 8 camera will be able to find the location and depth of subjects placed in front of the camera.

The front-facing camera would already have the potential applications including facial and iris recognition. PrimeSense algorithms - used for the camera system - was acquired by Apples last 2013. Mac Trast reported that its 3D sensing abilities are the iPhone 8's best offer.

The camera will also function by integrating the depth information captured by the IR transmitting and receiving modules. It would be equipped with the traditional 2D images captured by the front camera.

This is not just for the iPhone 8's iris recognition future that has been in rumors for a long time. 9 to Mac said in their article that It could also become handy in gaming applications and future AV/VR experiences where users could put their own 3D-scanned face in the game that they are playing.

Kuo added that the three-module front-facing camera system will bring an extraordinary experience to an innovative user to the OLED iPhone 8. For now, it would be reserved as an exclusive to that model. He noted that it could be used to other cameras in the near future.

With the headlines about the front-facing camera of the iPhone 8, a new speculation was born. These speculations surround the potential of Apple dropping Touch ID and instead, they would focus on either 3D facial recognition or iris scanning for security purposes.
