Google Will Release App Tools For Wearable Market. The recent announcement to release tools for software developers are aimed to create applications for wearable computers. According to Bloomberg, the company is trying to repeat the success it’s had with the Android mobile-operating system for gadgets people wear on their bodies.

Google Senior Vice President Sundar Pichai said the tools will be available in the coming weeks and that the so-called software developer kit will be for more than just wristwatch-like devices at SXSW last month. Pichai also stated Google wants to give developers a way to make any number of applications. “We’ll lay out a vision for developers as to how we’ll see this market working,” Pichai said. Google is moving into new devices as it looks for ways to get users on its services and boost advertising dollars. He also said the device will soon be released internationally.

The SDK platform will benefit software developers. The company aims to make wearable devices on Android easier for developers. The SDK will also attract more developer opportunities with the company and bring in users through the software. Chromecast revenues have reached in the millions of sales. The efforts will also enhance developers ability to create "vision" using their own wearables.

Google Glass applications are free applications built by third-party developers. Glass also uses many existing Google applications, such as Google Now, Google Maps, Google+, and Gmail. Third-party applications announced at South by Southwest (SXSW) include Evernote, Skitch, The New York Times, and Path. On April 15, 2013, Google released the Mirror API, allowing developers to start making apps for Glass.Several other minute improvements include volume controls, improved voice recognition, and several new Google Now cards. On November 19, 2013, Google unveiled its Glass Development Kit, showcasing a translation app Word Lens, a cooking app AllTheCooks, and an exercise app Strava among others as successful examples.
