The LG G Watch Is Announced As Company Hints At Stronger Partnership With Google Suggesting Possible Nexus

By Staff Reporter | Mar 18, 2014 05:32 PM EDT

The LG G Watch was the third major smartwatch related announcement following the announcement of the Android Wear platform and the Moto 360 smartwatch. The LG G Watch doesn’t have as much details as the Moto 360, but we do know that it is an Android Wear powered device.  The LG G Watch will work with a wide range of Android devices and not just LG devices. This sets it apart from the Samsung Gear 2, the Tizen powered smartwatch that only works with Samsung devices.

We have a press render that also gives us a look at it. It looks fairly different from the Moto 360, retaining a more traditional square, matte-black and glossy plastic design that we’ve commonly seen on smartwatches. Intereastingly LG hinted as a stronger future cooperation with Google saying, “This is LG’s fourth device developed in close collaboration with Google following theNexus 4Nexus 5, and the LG G Pad 8.3 Google Play Edition.”
