Google and Coalition members fight back to government surveillance and data collected from individuals. The threat to mobile data and NSA surveillance are said to have been cracking down on the misuse of such data. A Scorecard for Obama's Surveillance Reform Announcement by the Electronic Frontier Foundation's Cindy Cohn and Rainey Reitman Earlier last month was posted. President Obama announced a series of reforms to address abuses by the National Security Agency.

The post acknowledges Obama’s speech, that the President ensured that National Security Letters would not come with perpetual gag orders, brought new levels of transparency and fairness to the FISA court, and ended bulk collection of telephone records by the NSA. The coalition still believes there is more work to be done. “We’ve put together a scorecard showing how Obama’s announcements stack up against 12 common sense fixes that should be a minimum for reforming NSA surveillance,” wrote coalition members.

Google has been active also in the acknowledgement of privacy and security concerns. Google advocates and partners with companies, offering resources to its users promoting data security. Google shares tools and knowledge about how to stay safe online with other companies, and works with individuals and website owners to help keep the web a safe place for everyone. The company also works with experts on online security and family safety to help provide advice.

Educating end users on best practices is crucial. Now is an important time to do so. Performing risk assessments is a good way to mitigate. Big data has now opportunity to identify new emerging data for organizations. Most of our big data today has been produced in last two years alone. Understanding where a lot of the risk and vulnerabilities are can add to prevention and identify problems. Good risk management practices can prevent emerging security risks and threats.
