Can Sony Xperia Z2 And Sony Xperia Z2 Tablet Take On Samsung Galaxy S5 At MWC 2014?

By Staff Reporter | Feb 18, 2014 05:05 PM EST

The Sony Xperia Z2 and Xperia Z2 Tablet release date has been confirmed to be February 24 during the Mobile World Congress 2014 in Barcelona. The two flagship devices will be expected to compete against Samsung which is launching the Samsung Galaxy S5 and the Samsung Galaxy Gear 2, at the same time and the same day. Sony has decided that it is not afraid to go head to head with Samsung and their flagships. That is a bold move on part of Sony but from what we’ve seen so far perhaps they stand a fair chance.

The Sony Xperai Z2 leak, codenamed the Sirius D6503 have given us a good look at the device. We were able to get a good look at the design and UI in the video and from what we’ve seen the Sony Xperia Z2 doesn’t look or feel awfully different compared to the Sony Xperai Z1. It’s the same black square, presumably with the same feature. It runs Android 4.4.2 KitKat according to the video and has the typical apps that Sony loads on its devices.

This video is about Sony Xperia Sirius D6503 Prototype and Unstable 4.4.2 Kitkat Firmware.

The Sony Xperia Z2 Tablet has more leaks from @evleaks and @gadgetleaks. The bezel heavy Sony Xperia Tablet Z appears to boast a 10.1-inch 1920 x 1200 Triluminos display, a Snapdragon 800 processor, 3GB of RAM, 8-megapixel rear camera, 2-megapixel front facing camera, a 6,000mAh battery, 16 GB internal memory, a microSD card slot to expand it further, Android 4.4 KitKat and waterproofing. The Sony Xperia Z2 smartphone and tablet don’t strike us as devices capable of taking on Samsung in a slugfest. We will have to wait and see what happens during the Febuary 24 press event during MWC 2014.
