Android's Mobile OS Market Is Up 13%

Smartphone sales has remained stable within the current market. According to Kantar Worldpanel ComTech, the Android Mobile OS Market Is Up 13%. As of last year, Android owns more than half (51.7%) of the smartphone sales market. Competitor OS had 41.4% of smartphone sales, while Windows’ smartphone sales share remains at 5.6%.

Apple’s iOS and Mac OS operating systems are expected to be in 344 million new iPhones, iPads and Macs this year, according to Gartner. “There is no doubt that there is a volume-versus-value equation, with Android users purchasing lower-cost devices compared to Apple users,” Gartner analyst Annette Zimmerman stated. The numbers represent a 28 per cent jump on the number of devices shipped in 2013.

Android OS shares may decline due to market maturity and competition. Google’s Android OS is leading the Android smartphone market. Low cost smartphone device revenues still remain strong in emerging markets.

Google Android OS still remains a leader in the worldwide smartphone market. Android expansion has been focused in emerging. Android phones are anticipated to saturate in emerging markets such as Asia, India and Africa. These countries thrive on devices under $150. Small manufacturers and older devices with older Android versions developed  by larger manufacturers such as Samsung and Motorola will also drive market growth.

Android OS markers include Samsung, Sony and many more manufacturers. Android OS is expected to top 1.1 billion users in 2014, up 26 per cent on last year. Gartner recently stated that the number of smartphones and tablet computers shipped with Google Inc.’s Android operating system will break the 1 billion barrier in 2014.
