Samsung Galaxy Tab 3 Lite Price: Low-End Tablet Will Cost As Little As $130 For Wi-Fi Only Variant

The Samsung Galaxy Tab 3 Lite has been officially announced by Samsung as a low end variant of the Samsung Galaxy Tab 3. The device will have specs and features that could potentially allow Samsung to price the 7-inch tablet for as low as $130 for the Wi-fi only model. The Samsung Galaxy Tab 3 Lite is Samsung’s attempt to bring some of its higher end tablets into developing markets and the entry-level market conforming to a strategy it laid out last year which suggested that high-end specs heavy sales of smartphones and tablets were drying up.

The Samsung Galaxy Tab 3 Lite naturally has a specs downgrade to go along with its low price. The Samsung Galaxy Tab 3 has a 7-inch 1024 x 600 display with a 1.2GHz dual-core processor, 1GB of RAM, 8GB of internal storage, a 2-megapixel rear facing camera and a 3,600mAh battery. It also runs Android 4.2 Jelly Bean with the custom Touch Wiz interface that includes many of the custom Samsung features and apps,” Some of the preloaded apps on the tablet include Chrome, Gmail, Google+, Maps, Play Books, Play Movies, Play Music, Play Store, Hangouts, YouTube, Samsung Apps, Samsung Hub, ChatON, Dropbox, Polaris Office, and Flipboard.”

According to a leaked user manual the processor in question is a Marvell PXA986 chip. The Samsung Galaxy Tab 3 Lite will have a Wi-Fi only version with 2G and 3G variants costing more. We wouldn’t count on an LTE version. The Samsung Galaxy Tab 3 Lite isn’t powerful but for people who just want a tablet to watch movies, stream videos, read eBooks and other light tasks then it should be sufficient. The prices for the models look like they will range from $165 to $263.
