BlackBerry Rolls Out July Android Security Update To BlackBerry Smartphones

BlackBerry's KEYone smartphone is getting headlines for the imminent launch in some countries like India. However, between all this, BlackBerry has made an announced that it has started rolling out the July security update to its Android-powered smartphones. The announcement is coming in the form of a tweet from the company's official Security Incident Response Team.

According to CrackBerry, the BlackBerry Security Incident Response Team has announced that they have started the rollout of the July Android security update for all BlackBerry Android smartphones. Once downloaded and installed, the BlackBerry smartphone user should see the security patch level change and this time around, it will appear as July 1st, 2017 as or later than that.

In the given documentation, BlackBerry writes that the updated software version with the July security update is available immediately for BlackBerry powered by Android smartphones. The smartphones which have been purchased from Shop BlackBerry but devices purchased elsewhere such as retailers or carriers are dependent on their own deployment schedules, as reported by GSM Arena.

For the most part, BlackBerry has done great with keeping updates on the time, but there have once again been a few bumps in the road. The latest update before this was of June, which has yet to appear for quite a few of the smartphones. However, the BlackBerry KEYone is still not in line with all the other BlackBerry Smartphones and it looks to be on its own schedule for now.

So everyone will be looking to see if this month BlackBerry can get the update to all applicable devices in a timely manner.  There are also updates with July security patch to the several other devices like the Nokia 6 as well as Pixels and Nexuses, which have also started receiving the latest security patch.
