Samsung's Galaxy Note 8 killer feature has been widely speculated as an in-display fingerprint scanner. However, a new report contradicts the bulk of speculations that we have been hearing this past few week.

According to South Korean news, which then followed by BGR suggesting that an anonymous Samsung executive claims an integrated fingerprint scanner was being left out of the Galaxy Note 8 due to various technical limitations. Samsung's smartphone engineers made every effort to install a display-integrated fingerprint sensor on the device. However, then decided not to install to on this strategic phone due to various technical limitations such as security.

Some tech enthusiasts had speculated that Samsung has been working on in-display fingerprint scanning tech for some time now. Indeed, many were surprised that the feature didn't appear on the latest Galaxy S8 and S8 Plus.

If both Galaxy S8 and S8 Plus were launched with a rear fingerprint scanner positioned awkwardly close to the camera, it was said that the omission was down to Sammy's OEM partners being behind schedule. This leaves consumers to assume the fingerprint scanner feature will land later in the year with the Galaxy Note 8.

As noted by GSM Arena, several leaked images and schematics have since appeared to point to the presence of an in-display scanner, but things appear to be up in the air once more. Most of the recent Galaxy Note 8 speculations should be treated with an ample amount of skepticism where tech analysts can know for sure until the device launches this year.

Based on previous smartphone timelines by Samsung, Galaxy Note 8 will be launched in August or September 2017 at a standalone Samsung Unpacked event. Either the South Korean firm could make a return to the annual IFA consumer electronics show in Berlin.

Meanwhile, Samsung Galaxy Note 8 will feature Snapdragon 835 with an octa-core core 2.5GHz processor, up from SD835's 2.45 GHz. The device will be the first to equip this upcoming SoC. Stay tuned for more updates.
