LG Watch Sport vs Apple Watch Series 2: Style And Technology Battle

LG Watch Sport and Watch Style are the first two smartwatches launched with Android Wear 2.0 OS. Apple's best smartwatch until now is the Watch Series 2. The smartwatch, which is loaded with amazing specifications and features, is considered one of the tough rivals present in the tech market currently.

LG Watch Sport and Apple Watch Series 2 take head-to-head in terms of specifications and features. The LG Watch Sport smartwatch is sporting a bold, fresh aesthetics and with powerful hardware under the hood. It is the watch, which allows the user to catch up on notifications, control music and view all the vital workout stats without the help of a smartphone.

Size: According to Apple, the Watch Series 2 is available in two sizes, 39 mm and 42 mm and width measuring to 33mm and 36mm respectively. Both variants have the same thickness which measures to 10.5mm. On the other hand, the LG Watch Sport has dimensions measuring to 45mm X 51mm with round dial. The thickness of the watch is 14.2mm, which is a bit thick than the Apple Watch Series 2.

Display: Apple Watch Series 2 has 326 ppi display and offers pressure-sensitive display which provides an additional way to interact which has the technology to differentiate between hard, long taps and shorter, lighter ones. 

According to LG, the LG Watch Sport has round display accounting to 348ppi, which has quite higher pixel density than the Apple Watch Series 2. This smartwatch does not offer pressure-sensitive display feature. The common feature in the both watches is a rotating crown/power button for navigation with a twist.

Build: The entry level Apple Watches have aluminum builds with Ion-X glass and a premium material build offers stainless steel or ceramic builds with sapphire displays. Apple Watch Series 2 comes in gold, rose gold, silver, and space gray colors. The options in bands include elastomer, nylon, leather and stainless steel and are interchangeable.

The LG Watch Sport comes with a stainless steel watch case with a plastic back, a Gorilla Glass 3 display, and elastomer fixed band with essential antennae. The colors available are the titanium and dark blue. 

Processor: Apple Watch Series 2 is powered by Apple S2 chipset along with either 512GB or 1GB of RAM and the watch runs on Watch OS 3. On the other hand, LG's wearable comes with a Snapdragon Wear 2100 processor coupled with 768MB RAM and 4GB internal storage and runs on the newly released Android Wear 2.0 OS.

Google's new OS release allows the user to have the on-watch version of the Google Play Store which does not require any intermediary device. This feature is not available for the Apple Watch Series 2. 

Other Features: Apple Watch Series 2 is a full water resistant watch up to 50m, the watch also supports Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, and GPS. It comes with an accelerometer, gyroscope, ambient light sensor, heart-rate sensors. The Apple Watch Series 2 is only compatible with iPhone and not for the Android smartphones.

On the other hand, LG Watch Sport is an IP68 rated water resistance watch up to 1.5m for 30 minutes and supports 4G LTE cellular connectivity, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, and GPS. The device features accelerometer, gyroscope, ambient light and heart rate sensors. The LG Watch Sport is compatible with both Android and iPhone smartphones.

Price: Apple Watch Series 2 and the LG Watch Sport come with a starting price tag of $380 and $369 respectively. It shall be noted that the price of the smartwatches may vary depending on the region in which it is being sold.
