Blizzard Entertainment has added another hero to the Overwatch squad. Genji, a cyborg ninja and once known as the carefree youngest member of the Shimada clan, will fight in “Heroes of the Storm.” According to the game developer, he was grafted into a cyborg body by Hanzo, his older brother, on “Overwatch” as “an opportunistic, highly mobile Assassin who can tear apart a weak backline.”

Shuriken Basic Ability

Genji has three basic abilities and two Heroic abilities in “Heroes of the Storm,” according to PCGamer. With his first basic ability, Shuriken, the three throwing stars he flings go on a spread pattern that damage the first enemy it would hit. The second basic ability, Deflect, grants Genji protection by giving him 1.25 seconds to automatically throw a Kunai at the nearest foe while blocking damage. Finally, he also has Swift Strike which is a forward dash that damages all enemies in one line.

Dragonblade, the first of Genji’s Heroic abilities in “Heroes of the Storm,” recreates the ninja’s “Overwatch” ultimate which lasts for eight seconds. X-Strike the second of his Heroic abilities, is two pieces of matching perpendicular slashes, similar to the letter “X” that causes initial damage and then bursts into flame after 1.25 seconds and causes more damage to the affected area.

Beta Form

“Heroes of the Storm” became available in 2.0 beta form on Tuesday for $10.79, according to IGN. Genji comes with an expanded skill set from his “Overwatch” incarnation. In addition to Genji’s addition, Blizzard released a new battleground based on Genji’s home turf, Polygon reports. New objectives and mercenaries, plus explosive payloads, are included in the Hanamura version of “Heroes of the Storm” which goes live on April 25. Genji would join the other heroes, including Lucio, Tracer, and Zarya.
