Nintendo Big E3 2017 To Feature New Games & Content For Nintendo 3DS

Mar 27, 2017 07:52 AM EDT

After a big debut of the Nintendo Switch in early March that came with the companion game “The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild,” Nintendo of America is planning a big E3 2017. While the E3 has always been a major event for Nintendo, the game developer still views every E3 as a unique chance to tell Nintendo’s story. The E3 2017 would be a chance to showcase the company’s various games, Reggie Fils-Aime, president of Nintendo America, says.

More Indie Games For Nintendo Switch

He declined to name the different games that Nintendo would unveil at E3 2017, but Fils-Aime hints that the company would showcase not just the Nintendo Switch but also forthcoming content for Nintendo 3DS, Trusted Reviews reports. The website notes that by the time the E3 2017 takes place, “Mario Kart 8 Deluxe” would have been launched, it expects more from “Xenoblade Chronicles 2,” “Super Mario Odyssey” and “Splatoon 2.” It also expects more indies for the console since indies “are fast becoming a staple of the hybrid console’s library."

E3 2017 To Be Open To Public

Another first for Nintendo, Fils-Aime says, is that E3 2017 would be open to the public for the first time in the gaming events’ history, GameSpot reports. He indicates the direction of the gaming industry is towards creativity and innovation. The E3 2017 briefing that Fils-Aime made used Nintendo Treehouse live streams and offsite Nintendo Direct presentations.

The Nintendo Switch set new records for the company, Fils-Aime says at the E3 2017 briefing. Every day, sales records are being made with the Nintendo Switch in comparison to the launch of the Wii, Nintendo DS or Nintendo 3DS. To meet the rising demand for the new console, Nintendo has to double the production of the Nintendo Switch. VG247 reports that Nintendo is on target to meet the anticipated demand of 2 million units by the end of March.
