‘Godzilla: Monster Planet’ Update: Japanese Inspired Anime Will Hit Cinemas This Year; Release Date and Storyline Revealed

Polygon Pictures' upcoming anime which was inspired by Toho's long-running "Godzilla" franchise released its second trailer introducing the protagonist Haruo. It was officially confirmed that the upcoming film will be titled as "Godzilla: Kaiju Makusei (Monster Planet)" which will be released theatrically in Japan this year's November; Netflix has already announced the acquisition of worldwide distribution right to the film.

According to Crunchy Roll, a recent teaser revealed the story's introduction which the film was set 20,000 years ahead in the future of all humankind when the planet earth is dominated by Godzilla along with unknown monsters. The upcoming film "Godzilla: Kaiju Makusei (Monster Planet)" will be the first ever movie in the Godzilla anime franchise.

The story of "Godzilla: Kaiju Makusei (Monster Planet)" starts at the last summer of the 20th century where the human race realized that their earth was occupied with another ruler of the earth. By that time, gigantic monsters have emerged, named Kaiju. Humans initiated war against the gigantic monsters in which humans are repeatedly defeated in almost 50 years.

After a half-century of war, human decided to escape from earth which lands into the year of 2048 that people created an artificial intelligence interstellar ship to go to a place far away from earth. Humans traveled for 11.9 light years away from Earth. However, a young man named Haruo wants to go back to the earth and kill all those Godzilla's who took their home and his parents away from him, as narrated by Anime News Network.

 "Godzilla: Kaiju Makusei (Monster Planet)" will have a stage event at AnimeJapan 2017 this Sunday, March 26, 2017. The six main voice characters will also appear in the event including Tomokazu Sugita, Junichi Suwabe, Takahiro Sakurai, Mamoru Miyano, Yuuki Kaji, and Kana Hanazawa.

Director Kobun Shizuno who also directs several anime films such as "Detective Conan: The Darkest Nightmare" and other "Detective Conan" movies, "Fist of the North Star: The Legend of Toki," and "Fist of the North Star: The Legend of Kenshirô" will direct "Godzilla: Kaiju Makusei (Monster Planet)" in Polygon Pictures along with his pal Hiroyuki Seshita who also directs "Knights of Sidonia" and "Ajin." Gen Urobuchi from "Fate/Zero," "Puella Magi Madoka Magica," and "Psycho-Pass" made the story concept and screenplay of the film.
