‘Uncharted: The Lost Legacy’ Spoilers: Protagonist Nathan Drake Not In Upcoming Side Story

Mar 23, 2017 07:01 AM EDT

Protagonist Nathan Drake would not be included in the upcoming side story of “Uncharted: Lost Legacy” which stars Nadine Ross and Chloe Frazer. The focus would be on the two women who previously were known by gamers only in relation to Nathan Drake. In the upcoming side story, Chloe Frazer would look for the Tusk of Ganesh, an Indian artifact, while she would seek help from Nadine Ross who just lost her job after Shoreline, her mercenary company, goes bankrupt after the events of “Uncharted 4: A Thief’s End.”

Nathan Enjoys A Peaceful Seaside Life

By not touching on Nathan Drake in “Uncharted: Lost Legacy,” the upcoming side story would be pitched by Naughty Dog, the game’s developer, as a standalone tale in the Uncharted universe, Kurt Margenau, game director, says. Evan Wells, co-president of Naughty Dog, explains that it is unlikely for the company to develop another Uncharted game. It is because at the end of “Uncharted 4: A Thief’s End,” Naughty Dog sent Nathan Drake to live a peaceful seaside life with his family, Polygon reports.

While the developer considered making Nathan Drake a secondary character in “Uncharted: Lost Legacy,” it felt superfluous because Naughty Dog tied it up with the last Uncharted game, Josh Scherr, writer of Naughty Dog, says. But the game developer would widen the scope of the upcoming side story in ways the “Uncharted 4: A Thief’s End” time pressures did not permit because of the last game’s development schedule.

“Crash Bandicoot” Player

IGN adds that Nadine Ross and Chloe Frazer might bring up Nathan Drake in their conversations, while other characters could possibly appear in cameo roles in “Uncharted: Lost Legacy.” Gamers, though, are free to imagine the protagonist instead becoming a couch potato while playing “Crash Bandicoot.” The upcoming side story is set six to 12 months after the events of “Uncharted 4: A Thief’s End.”

“Uncharted: Lost Legacy” would release in the later part of 2017 as a standalone game or as a part of the “Uncharted 4 Digital Deluxe Edition. It would be released exclusively on PlayStation 4, Escapist Magazine reports.
