Microsoft has recently confirmed that the mixed reality gaming is on its way for the games platform including its Virtual Reality headset. Redmond Software announced the launch VR headsets capable of mixed reality with Windows 10 Creators Update.
Microsoft discussed at Game Developers Conference 2017 that the mixed reality VR was renamed into Windows Mixed Reality which will entertain shipments within this month. This PC-powered headset by Windows 10 is one of the most anticipating Xbox platforms. According to Alex Kipman of Microsoft, that the company was excited to share with the public that Windows Mixed Reality experiences will lead to other devices beyond desktop and Microsoft HoloLens, as stated by Forbes. One of the company's major plans in terms of mixed reality content to the Xbox One family is to include Project Scorpio this coming 2018.
Microsoft's Project Scorpio will be the codename for the next Xbox One model which is capable of true 4K gaming, HDR content and high-end virtual reality. Microsoft is obviously competing against Sony's VR headsets which were by the way sold around a million units. The company is trying to differentiate its headsets away from HTC Viva, Oculus Rift, and PlayStation VR. Microsoft's upcoming VR headset will feature two high-resolution liquid crystal; with 1440 x 1400 displays, built-in audio out, a microphone, a 90 Hz (native) refresh rate, USB 3.0 (data) for its connectivity purposes and a single cable with HDMI 2.0 display.
Meanwhile, Xbox One head Phil Spencer discussed something about the upcoming Project Scorpio, according to WFCC Tech. He claimed that the progress on Project Scorpio is now on the rapid state. Microsoft has been receiving the console's SoC last October 2016, then installed into Xbox One platform last November and now starting to test the alpha versions. Phil Spencer also noted that the upcoming console will be prioritized to premium customers which who know what a teraflop is.
